English name:
Wax Plant AustralisLatin name:
Hoya 'Australis'About me:
I have thick waxy looking round shaped leaves and white star-like flowers.Useful to know:
Origin
I am native to southern and central America.
Height/Growth
I can grow up to 4m.
Light
I like a lot of diffused light, but direct sunlight will cause the leaves to fade and lose my precious markings. Because I grow on the canopy floor, I can tolerate shade, but I grow much better with indirect light.
Water
I can tolerate periods of drought so wait until the top two inches of my soil to dry out between waters.
Temperature
Keep me away from draughts and in temperatures of between 18 and 24°C.
Feeding
Please feed me dilluted fertiliser once a month during the growing season.
Grooming
I need little pruning in my youth, however as I age this may help to rejuvenate my vines.
Care
I am susceptible to root rot so don't overwater me.
Toxicity
Keep me away from pets and children as I am toxic.
Fact
My flowers are beautifully scented! When they arrive they will bring a fresh fragrance to any room. You would like to read about a similar plant Hoya Carnosa Tricolor.
