- Tropical epiphyte: it grows on tree branches as an epiphytic plant, making it a perfect hanging plant for tall surfaces in your home.
- Its tropical roots make it an ideal choice for those looking to create a lush indoor paradise.
- Fun Fact: The name Aeschynanthus comes from the Greek contraction of aischuno (shy) and anthos (flower), so the literal translation is 'shy red flower'.
Lipstick Plant Care Guide
Light
Loves bright light but not direct sunlight - it scorches its leaves.
Water
Prefers soil on the dry side but please never leave it totally dry. It can withstand a certain amount of drought but not overwatering so please don't let it sit in water. Partial to regular misting is recommended.
Temperature
Normal room temperature is ideal, but keep away from hot or cold draughts.
Feeding
Feed it with regular liquid fertiliser during spring and summer every 2-3 weeks
Grooming
The best time to prune it is after flowering season. Keep its stems from getting straggly to encourage thicker growth. Or, just pick off any dry leaves and let it grow wild!
Care
The most common issue with this plant leaf-drop - if more than the top inch of its soil is dry, please water it more. If you notice yellow leaves, it probably needs more light.
